Arm Lift, Brachioplasty

Contour and Tone Your Upper Arms

Brachioplasty, also known as upper arm lift is a plastic surgical procedure that reshapes the under portion of the upper arm, from the underarm region to the elbow. An upper arm lift is performed to reduce excess skin and fat between the underarm and the elbow and to reshape your arm to result in smoother skin and contours. Brachioplasty or arm lift plastic surgery will result in a more toned and proportionate appearance of your upper arms. Arm lift surgery often is done in conjunction with liposuction cosmetic surgical techniques.

PROCEDURE:

Incision length and pattern depends on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed, judged by Dr. Peterson at the time of your consultation. Incisions are generally placed on the inside of the arm and may extend from the underarm (axilla) to just above the elbow. If fat is to be reduced during your arm lift, it will be excised or treated with liposuction. Incisions will be closed with absorbable sutures, tapes, dressings and a compression garment. The operation requires general anaesthesia, and is performed on a day care basis.

RECOVERY:

Following your surgery, dressings or bandages will be applied to your incisions, and your arms will be wrapped in an elastic bandage or a compression garment to minimize swelling. You will be given specific instructions that may include how to care for the surgical site and, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the potential for infection, specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health, and when to follow up with Dr. Peterson.

RESULTS:

The dramatic improvement in arm lift contour following arm lift surgery can greatly enhance your body image.
