What are my Spider Vein Therapy Options?

1. V-Beam Laser

What is it? The V-Beam laser is a pulsed dye laser that produces an intense, yet gentle, burst of light that selectively destroys vascular lesions in the skin while leaving the surrounding tissue intact.

How long does one treatment take? Depending on the size and location of the treatment area, this spider vein therapy typically takes between 10-20 minutes.  

How many skin treatments do I need? The number of skin treatments required varies and depends on several factors such as the severity of your condition and the size of the affected area. Most patients require up to 5 sessions for optimum results.

What can I expect after the treatment? After this spider vein therapy, most patients feel a slight warmth in the skin, which usually diminishes within 1-3 hours. Lingering redness and minimal swelling usually resolves within 24-48 hours.

2. IPL Spider Vein Therapy

What is it? IPL skin treatment for spider veins destroys capillaries and excess blood that has leaked into the skin. The pulses of light emit heat that selectively damages or destroys abnormal veins, without affecting the surrounding tissue.

How long does one treatment take? Depending on the size of the treatment area and the severity of the spider veins, one IPL therapy can take between 15-45 minutes.

How many treatments do I need? Unlike laser treatment, IPL spider vein therapy is appropriate for treating veins that are slightly deeper in the skin. A total of 2-4 treatments is usually required in order to achieve optimal results.

What can I expect after the treatment? Side effects of the IPL skin treatment include bruising, redness and swelling but these usually resolve within a few days. In order to minimize symptoms, ice packs can be applied to the treatment area.
