Why Microdermabrasion is the Perfect Winter Skin Treatment

Are you looking for instant, natural anti-aging results? Here's why this cold season might be the best time for a DiamondTome microdermabrasion skin treatment.

Gone are the days when patients had to go under the knife to help counteract the effects of time and gravity on their skin.

With cosmetic technology advancing every day, there is a growing shift towards non-invasive skin treatments such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels. These treatments have many benefits over surgical procedures, including:

  • Lower treatment costs
  • Shorter and less painful recovery periods
  • Fewer side effects and treatment risks
  • Immediate and dramatic effects

Why Microdermabrasion is the Perfect Winter Skin Care Treatment

As things in your world slow down during the colder season, now is the perfect time to treat the damaging effects of aging, the sun, and the environment on your skin.

One of the simplest, easiest and quickest ways of doing this is with a microdermabrasion skin treatment, which removes the dead, dry and dull outer layer of skin, leaving you refreshed and radiant for the Christmas dinners, parties and gatherings up ahead!

What You Should Know About Microdermabrasion:

  • By gently exfoliating the top layer of skin, microdermabrasion stimulates the body to increase cell turnover and produce collagen.
  • The procedure is non-invasive and uses a unique DiamondTome facial wand that gently, yet powerfully, exfoliates the damaged and dead top layer of your skin.
  • The procedure takes approximately 30-45 minutes. There is NO discomfort or downtime and you can return to your normal activities immediately.
  • The procedure is also an excellent skin treatment for acne or light scars.
  • Your skin specialist can customize your microdermabrasion treatment based on your unique skin condition.
  • Since skin typically regenerates at 30-day intervals, microdermabrasion should be repeated once a month for optimal skin improvement.

Why Do a Microdermabrasion Treatment This Winter

Whether it’s a chemical peel or microdermabrasion, Winter is the best time for a skin resurfacing treatment. This is because, during the colder season:

  • There is less sun exposure, so there is no risk of hyperpigmentation following your treatment
  • You may have more time to recuperate indoors, without the pressure of outdoor activities or vacations
  • A skin treatment can counteract any skin damage done during the summer, including eliminating wrinkles, fine lines, dry skin and hyperpigmentation

Winter Recovery Tips For Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is not a particularly invasive procedure, but your skin will likely be sensitive after the procedure. Some facial redness, itchiness and/or a mild sunburn is normal and these side-effects can last for up to 48 hours after your skin treatment.

To Ensure Safe and Satisfactory Microdermabrasion Results, It’s Important to Follow These Recovery Tips:

  1. Cleanse your face immediately after the treatment with a wet cloth and rehydrating toner to remove any dead skin cells left behind.
  2. Apply a rich moisturizer once the skin has dried completely. Continue using a moisturizer for 4-6 days after the treatment to avoid any excessive peeling.
  3. Don’t forget to use sunscreen every time you go out (even if it is an overcast winter day) because microdermabrasion increases photosensitivity.
  4. Avoid staying in the sun for at least 7 days after the skin treatment to prevent UV rays from damaging your skin (which can cause hyperpigmentation or slow down recovery).
  5. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of water and eating fruits and vegetables.
  6. Scratching or picking at the treatment area should be AVOIDED completely.
  7. Avoid irritating the skin with harsh chemicals, rubbing or tanning for at least 1 week.
  8. Relieve tenderness or burning sensation by using a cold-compress or anti-inflammatory cream.

I recently had liposuction done by Dr. Peterson to fix Coolsculpt I had had done that left me uneven. He was very professional, caring and compassionate and assured me everything could be fixed. I can't express my gratitude to Dr. Peterson for what an amazing job he did and how well he took care of me. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a plastic surgeon, in fact I have recommended him to many friends and they have all been very happy. My experience at the clinic was amazing, right from the beginning talking with Cynthia and the amazing care I got from all the nurses, I felt very special.
