Research shows that moms are more self‐conscious and dissatisfied with their bodies after they have changed from the effects of pregnancy and motherhood.
For many mothers, the breasts show the most significant and permanent changes during their childbearing years. During pregnancy, it is not uncommon to gain over 1 lb. in each breast, but after birth and breastfeeding, the breasts can lose their firmness and volume as hormone levels change and the connective tissues in the breasts decrease. The result is breasts that are much smaller in size, with less tone and lift.
Breast augmentation can make a major difference for moms, helping them reclaim their bodies and restore their self‐confidence.
What is Breast Enhancement?
Breast enhancement or augmentation involves lifting the breast tissue and inserting a saline or silicone implant to enhance breast size.
The plastic surgeon inserts the implant under (or over) the pectoral muscle for a final look that gives the breasts a realistic lift and firmness.
To help minimize scarring, the surgeon usually makes incisions in natural creases along the breasts or nipples.
Do the results look natural?
Breast augmentation has been given negative feedback in the past, with the media sensationalizing procedures by celebrities. In reality, breast enhancement can produce a natural‐looking lift and tone to the breasts.
For many women, breast augmentation is about restoring their breasts to their pre‐motherhood state and boosting their self confidence and youthful mindset. See our Before and After photos here.
What is the recovery time?
The typical recovery time after breast augmentation is about 1 to 2 weeks. During this time, patients may have swelling and bruising along the breasts as they heal from the surgery. After a few months, this will diminish.
