As people are living longer and wanting to look their best, facelifts are becoming a more sought out procedure.
Plastic surgery is in demand, and it is not surprising that the number of plastic surgery procedures has grown over 132 percent in the past 16 years. As the technology, experience, and tools used to perform plastic surgeries continue to evolve, trends change from year to year.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons annual report, growing trends in plastic surgery include a renewed focus on facial procedures, increased demand for fat transfer and fat freezing, as well as an increase in male plastic surgery.
6 Plastic Surgery Trends For 2018
Three of the top five plastic surgery trends for 2018 growing in popularity focus on the face. Nose reshaping, eyelid surgery, and facelifts were three of the top five procedures performed in the last year.
The others include:
Nose Reshaping
Also known as rhinoplasty, leads the facial category with almost a quarter of a million procedures performed. Non-surgical nose jobs use dermal fillers to reshape the nose in a simple 15-minute procedure. The procedure uses a dermal filler that is also estimated to last one to two years.
Eyelid Rejuvenation
Known as blepharoplasty, is the second most popular growing plastic surgery facial procedure. Loss of volume in the face leads to sunken eyes and sagging skin. Fillers and botox work well except in situations where the amount of eyelid fat loss is too great to be replenished by fillers alone.
Facelifts
Known as rhytidectomy, facelifts are sometimes required to correct sagging facial skin. This out-patient procedure tightens loose muscles and fat in the face on the neckline to provide a more balanced facial harmony.
CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting, also known as fat freezing, is a non-invasive, FDA approved, fat reduction treatment kills fat cells by freezing them. This procedure requires no downtime, and, over the course of several weeks to months following the treatment, will shrink fat cells or entirely eliminate them.
Breast Reductions
The Laser Bra Lift is a new form of breast reduction that is non-surgical and laser assisted. The procedure used a CO2 laser to improve elasticity and smoothness of the breast.
Botox
Botox is used as a preventative and restorative procedure that works to smooth skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It reduces lines and wrinkles, prevents them in younger people, and is even used to treat excessive sweating in the underarm area.
