What is V-Beam Spider Vein Therapy?
Visible, unsightly spider veins can appear in the face, arms and legs, and may cause self-consciousness and embarrassment among patients who have them.
A revolutionary spider vein therapy option, V-Beam is a pulsed-dye laser that works by delivering pulses of gentle yellow light, which the blood vessels absorb. These then coagulate and are reabsorbed into the body as part of the natural healing process.
Benefits of V-Beam Skin Treatment
Compared to other vascular lasers, the V-Beam offers a safer, more powerful, and effective treatment option and has many benefits including:
- Shorter treatment times
- Less bruising and fewer side effects
- In-built cooling system for a more comfortable procedure
- No downtime required
- Dramatic cosmetic improvement after just 2-4 treatments
Am I A Candidate For V-Beam Laser Therapy?
V-Beam Laser Therapy is an extremely versatile cosmetic treatment, safe for most skin types and for patients of all ages. However, it is NOT RECOMMENDED FOR patients who:
- Are darkly pigmented
- Have vessels which are more than 1.5mm deep
- Have skin infections at the treatment site
- Are pregnant
- Are currently using Accutane therapy
Before considering any skin treatment, it is advisable to discuss your concerns and therapy options with a skin care specialist as they can assess your skin type, aesthetic goals and medical history to determine which cosmetic treatment is right for you.

V-Beam Results & Recovery
To achieve your desired results, proper skin care between and after treatments is crucial. Make sure you use moisturizer daily, avoid sun exposure, and refrain from tanning the treatment areas throughout the course.
Most patients will be able to return to normal activities immediately after treatment.
Immediately after V-Beam Laser Therapy
- You may feel mild stinging, burning or irritation in the treatment area
- The treatment area may be slightly swollen/red (lasts less than 24 hours)
- There may be a few spots of purple bruising which will disappear in 5-7 days
- Discomfort should fade quickly. However, using a cold compress can help accelerate healing
Recovery Tips For The First Few Days After Treatment
- Avoid sun exposure or tanning
- Apply ice for discomfort, especially 24 hours after treatment
- Apply moisturizer or topical antibiotic cream if needed
- Avoid scrubbing or rinsing the area with abrasive skin cleansers
- Use retinoids for two days following the treatment (if advised by your doctor)
- Use a gentle cleanser twice a day
Results
It can take anywhere from 1-5 treatments to get the results you desire. Many patients see improvements or fading of spider veins immediately after the first treatment. The results could be permanent unless you have underlying medical issues or lifestyle factors that cause the problem to return.
